The Custom Links feature in Workslayr provides a flexible way to integrate external resources or internal frequently used pages directly into your Workslayr experience. By creating various custom links, you can streamline your team’s access to external tools, project documentation, company policies, or other important web content without leaving the platform. This enhances efficiency and ensures that all relevant operational information is easily accessible to your team.
Setting Up Custom Links #
To begin configuring your custom links, navigate to the Company Settings by selecting ‘Settings’ from the main navigation bar. Within the settings menu, you will find the option for ‘Custom Links.’ This section allows administrators to define, manage, and organize all external and internal links pertinent to your business operations.
Adding a New Custom Link #
Adding a new custom link is a straightforward process designed to help you quickly integrate relevant URLs for your team’s access. When creating a new link, you will typically provide both a display name and the URL itself. This ensures that the link is clearly identifiable and directs users to the correct external resource.
- Navigate to Custom Links: From the main dashboard, select ‘Settings’ and then choose ‘Custom Links’.
- Add New Link: Click the ‘Add New Link’ button (or similar icon) to open the creation form.
- Enter Details: Provide a descriptive Link Name (e.g., “Company Time Off Policy” or “Client Portal Login”) and the full URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.sharepoint.com/documents).
- Save: Save your entry. The new custom link will now appear in a designated section within Workslayr, accessible to employees or specific roles based on your configuration.
These links can point to anything from internal policy documents, external customer support portals, or even specific reports generated outside Workslayr that complement your primary dashboard reports.
Managing and Organizing Custom Links #
Once created, your custom links are easily manageable. You can edit existing links to update their names or URLs, or delete them if they are no longer relevant. This ensures that your team always has access to the most current and necessary information.
Effective management of these links means your employees can quickly find essential resources related to their employees profiles, ongoing projects, or communication with clients. For instance, you might create a custom link to an external tool used for specialized invoices or expenses management, complementing Workslayr’s core operational features.
The ability to curate these links directly within Workslayr, similar to how you manage App Settings for date & time formats or timezone & currency, helps maintain a centralized operational hub for your service-based business.
Workslayr’s Custom Links feature allows you to integrate additional web resources directly into your Workslayr navigation. This capability enhances your team’s access to frequently used tools and information by preventing the need for them to search for external websites or internal company pages. Two distinct types of links can be added: Internal Links and External Links, each serving a specific purpose in streamlining your operational workflow.
Understanding Custom Link Types #
The distinction between internal and external links is crucial for setting up your Workslayr environment effectively. Both types aim to reduce friction in accessing information, but they target different sources.
Internal Links #
Internal links in Workslayr are designed to point to other sections or specific pages within your Workslayr instance. This is particularly useful for guiding your team to frequently accessed modules or reports that might be several clicks deep in the standard navigation. For example, you might create an internal link directly to the Attendance Tracking page for quick daily reviews, or to a specific Project Report for a critical client. By providing direct access, you help your employees navigate the system more efficiently, saving valuable time.
- Purpose: Quick navigation to specific Workslayr pages or modules.
- Use Cases: Direct links to frequently used dashboards, project lists, client profiles, or specific projects.
- Benefit: Reduces navigation steps within Workslayr, improving user experience and efficiency.
External Links #
External links allow you to embed access to websites outside of your Workslayr platform. This is invaluable when your team regularly uses other web-based tools or resources that are essential for their daily tasks. Consider linking to your company’s knowledge base, a project management tool not directly integrated with Workslayr, or an external document repository. These links ensure that all necessary resources are centralized within the Workslayr interface, reducing the need for employees to switch between multiple applications or browser tabs.
- Purpose: Seamless access to external web applications or resources.
- Use Cases: Links to external document management systems, client portals, design tools, or industry-specific resources.
- Benefit: Consolidates access to all necessary tools within one platform, enhancing productivity and streamlining operations.
Configuring Custom Links #
When you set up a new custom link in Workslayr, you will specify whether it’s an internal or external link. For external links, you will simply provide the full URL, often starting with “https://”. For internal links, you typically just need to provide the relative path within Workslayr. This feature, accessible within your Company Settings, complements other App Settings such as Timezone & Currency settings, allowing you to tailor the software to your company’s unique operational needs.
The ability to differentiate and configure both Internal Links and External Links empowers administrators to create a highly customized and efficient work environment. By carefully curating these links, you can ensure that your team always has immediate access to the information and tools they need, whether those resources are located within Workslayr or on another website.
Workslayr allows for the creation of custom links that can be placed in various sections of the application sidebar. This functionality helps tailor the user interface to specific workflows or frequently accessed external resources. Customize settings for your company within Company Settings.
To configure custom link placement, navigate to Settings and select Custom Links. When creating or editing a custom link, options for placement will be available.
Custom links in the sidebar can be positioned under the following main categories:
- Client Management: For links related to managing clients.
- Project Management: For links relevant to projects.
- HR & Workforce: For links concerning employees or human resources.
- Finance & Accounting: For links pertaining to invoices or expenses.
- Sales & CRM: For links associated with leads or deals.
Selecting a category will place the custom link as a sub-item under that category in the left-hand navigation sidebar. This allows for organization of custom external or internal resources directly within the Workslayr interface.
Workslayr offers granular control over who can view custom links. This ensures that specific links are accessible only to relevant personnel or clients based on their roles or association with particular projects or clients.
Configuring Custom Link Visibility #
When creating or editing a custom link, you can set its visibility through the access control options. These settings dictate whether the link appears for all users, specific roles, or linked clients and projects.
Visibility options include:
- Clients: Make the link visible to all clients, or only to clients associated with specific projects or entities.
- Employees: Define visibility for all employees, or restrict it to employees assigned to specific projects or with particular roles.
- Projects: Associate the link with individual projects, making it visible to client and employee members of that project.
- All: The link is visible to all users within the Workslayr instance, including all clients and employees.
These settings are managed within the App Settings. Administrators can review and adjust these permissions under the Company Settings section.
By default, custom links are not visible to any user until specific access controls are configured. This ensures data privacy and relevance for each user type. For further details on user permissions, refer to the documentation on User Roles Explained.
